What exactly are we doing?
Youth, MUH, and Masters rowers and coaches will keep the rowing machines moving for 9 hours straight!  Our goal is to row the length of the Great Miami River in one afternoon!  That's over 160 miles of water from the head at Indian Lake to the tail at the Ohio River.  Come cheer us on as we take on this great feat as a team!

Why are we doing this?
Our goal is to raise $5,000 this winter in order to help fund the purchase of a new racing shell.  A brand new four person boat will cost us around $17,500 and this is one of several efforts to raise the funds.  With new equipment, our crews will be able to perform even better out on the race course!  Each youth rower is responsible for raising a portion of the money before the event and we will accept donations on the day of.

How can you help?
You can help in several ways!  Click the above donation link to make a donation.  If you know a specific rower, please be sure to credit your donation to them!  You can also come out the day of the event to give the rowers some encouragement and drop a few bucks in our jar!

Double Dam Competitors and Volunteers,

Regrettably, the river conditions that have developed over the last 48 hours are such that we are forced to cancel the Hamilton Double Dam Regatta due to safety concerns. The Double Dam has never had problems with water safety concerns as the river is most predictable in the fall.

We hope to see you all next year October 20 2012 (10/20/12). -What are the odds we'd set a record for the highest rainfall in the tri-state two years in a row?

Entry fee reimbursements for 2011 regatta should be completed by the end of the day.

Best of luck for the rest of the season,

GMRC Regatta Committee and all our wonderful volunteers.

The Dayton/Hamilton area has been experiencing significant rainfall since early Wednesday which is not normal. What was originally predicted to be a small amount quickly accumulated to three inches of rain in a 24 hour period. Thus, the Great Miami River is rising and is nearing our threshold for hosting a safe regatta.

The storm front is expected to move out of the area today. However, if the rain continues, we will be forced to cancel the regatta. We are watching conditions closely using forecast models from the USGS, Doppler radar and our local river authority.   The good news is that the prediction for Saturday is 50 degrees and sunny!

In the event of a forced cancellation we will make a “go” or “no go” announcement by 7AM Friday morning so that you and your programs can plan accordingly.

Notices of our decision will be sent via email, posted to our website (http://www.greatmiamirowing.com/) and by phone. All entry fees will be refunded in the event of a cancellation.
